The low heat emissions of compact flourescent bulbs allow for the unique form and attachment mechanism of this lamp. 

 

The low temperatures allow the shade, made of styrene, to remain in direct contact with the bulb. This makes the hardware normally used to attach a lamp-shade to a bulb unnecessary.

 

The shades are formed by draping heated styrene over a bulb form. This creates a shape which is not only visually interesting, but mechanically functional. The shade snaps gently around the bulb.
